Week 5

Today was PRESENTATION DAY. We presented our layout and the mock up version of the magazine to see how it would look like.

We received some comments from Mr. RAZIF about our mock up. Some of the comments mentions:
Choose a suitable font for the OOTD section.
Popcorn section was too messy
Make users interact with the magazine instead of just swiping to read.

Week 4

We decided to change our 'book' section to a 'band' section. The reason why we did this is because we found that bands and music appeals better to a wider range of audience.

Week 3

Today Marwah, Joshua, Loke and I further discussed on the content layout of our ideal magazine. We changed one of our content, 'Red carpet' section to 'ootd' (outfit of the day) section. We decided to change because we think that an 'ootd' section would better appeal to younger readers.

Pic of content layout

First row shows 3 options of the splash page of the 'Ootd' section. First option is having a collage of pics that are split into 3 horizontal rows. This collage is blurred out and the words "OOTD" will be in the center indicating the first page of this new section.
The second option will have 3 vertical pictures blurred as a background and the words "OOTD" will be front and center.
The third option will have only 1 blurred picture of the model with the words "OOTD" front and center. This option is aimed to keep the page simple and clean.
My personal opinion is that the second and third option are more suitable. A collage of pics would be too messy and the simplicity would be gone.

To get to the next page, the user would have to swipe up and the page would proceed to the next page.

Here users would be brought to the next page. After the user has swiped up, the background now is no longer blur but the 3 pics would be brought into focus. Users can then swipe up on each individual pic and the picture of the model will be brought up into focus which fills the whole page. Further description would appear alongside the model to explain more about the model/clothes.

Week 2

Group discussion about section selection. We browse through many examples from previous JMD magazine issues and analyzed the interaction style, animation and the way the content is presented.
We also briefly discussed on the way we want to present our content and which animation and interaction would fit best. We commented on the different sections that we liked and the different styles.

We all agreed on a simple style where the article would be hidden and the user would have to interact to bring up the hidden article in order for the users to read. We agreed on interactive pictures that will be presented to the user first before they read the article.
After browsing and analyzing for some time, we decided to go with 3 sections; Red carpet, books and popcorn time.
