Presentation Day 4th December 2015

Stayed awake in taylors until 6am to finalize the magazine.

At roughly 11pm, we were touching up on each of our designs and giving feedback to each other to improve our design. We also completed the necessary links to other pages.

At roughly 1:30am, we finished everything and now we were compiling everything to a single computer. Exports keep failing and we were getting tired and sleepy. Decided to watch youtube comedians Russell Peter and "Who on first, What on second and I Dont Know on third". Bear in mind we were waiting for exports to be done but it still failed.

At roughly 3am, PROBLEM FOUND! The content link was typed in wrongly. Then we had to learn how to link the pages to the correct vertical and object. Very confusing but we figured it out. Then each of us had to add an "id" to an object in the first vertical of their sections in order for the content page to work. Then we had to export everything again.

At roughly 5am, exporting has begun and we watched youtube videos again to keep us busy. Then an error popped up which I had no idea why. Then i tried again to export and the error still comes out. Then we decided to use Loke's computer to export and it worked fine. and we were DONE EXPORTING FINALLY AFTER 4 hours!

At 9am, presentation commenced and each group presented their work. Turns out our group was the most not-laggy work because we only used indesign to create everything while the other groups had edge animate content.
The comments were that the ootd section designs needed to be improved such as spacing, colors and "dont stretch images". Mr. Razif like our 'popcorn movie' section the most.

AND THAT'S IT! Done with an ipad magazine and it was a great learning experience to further explore indesign and magplus. Lesson learnt is that always target to finish work early so that IF there are any problems, there will be time to correct it. For example our exporting took us 4hours+.

Week 10 - Week 14

I managed to finalize my cover and content page. After having the issue of restarting indesign every time I want to review on the ipad. There was also the issue of network problem so I created a local wireless network and connect the ipad to my computer. We then used my ip address to connect the ipad as the modem was having problems. AND WE FOUND OUT THAT PRESENTATION IS CANCELLED WOOHOO!

Week 8 & Week 10

Using edge animate with magplus indesign is very troublesome. Edge animate wont animate when viewed on the ipad. And indesign magplus can only review on the ipad once before having to close everything and restart the program. Marwah's laptop had to be restarted every time she wants to review what she designed on the ipad and her laptop takes 5 mins to restart!

So much problems and submission date is on 27TH NOVEMBER WITH CLIENTS TOO! DIE SO MUCH WORK LEFT

Week 6 & Week 7

We decided to finalize our designs and we had to start production or we would not finish in time as we also had other assignments due.
I was in charge of the content page as well as the cover page.
Initially, after getting some feedback from my group mates, they gave ideas on how to design the cover page. Some of it was to include all three sections of our magazine to the cover page. However, this idea was scraped as it made the page too messy.

I then had to rethink the cover page from scratch and looked for inspirations online. I aimed to have a simple and clean cover page. It then turned out too empty and Loke, my group mate suggested that i make a video and so I did.

Week 5

Today was PRESENTATION DAY. We presented our layout and the mock up version of the magazine to see how it would look like.
Content page

OOTD page

Movie page "popcorn"

Band page

We received some comments from Mr. RAZIF about our mock up. Some of the comments mentions:
Choose a suitable font for the OOTD section.
Popcorn section was too messy
Make users interact with the magazine instead of just swiping to read.

Week 4

We decided to change our 'book' section to a 'band' section. The reason why we did this is because we found that bands and music appeals better to a wider range of audience.

Week 3

Today Marwah, Joshua, Loke and I further discussed on the content layout of our ideal magazine. We changed one of our content, 'Red carpet' section to 'ootd' (outfit of the day) section. We decided to change because we think that an 'ootd' section would better appeal to younger readers.

Pic of content layout

First row shows 3 options of the splash page of the 'Ootd' section. First option is having a collage of pics that are split into 3 horizontal rows. This collage is blurred out and the words "OOTD" will be in the center indicating the first page of this new section.
The second option will have 3 vertical pictures blurred as a background and the words "OOTD" will be front and center.
The third option will have only 1 blurred picture of the model with the words "OOTD" front and center. This option is aimed to keep the page simple and clean.
My personal opinion is that the second and third option are more suitable. A collage of pics would be too messy and the simplicity would be gone.

To get to the next page, the user would have to swipe up and the page would proceed to the next page.

Here users would be brought to the next page. After the user has swiped up, the background now is no longer blur but the 3 pics would be brought into focus. Users can then swipe up on each individual pic and the picture of the model will be brought up into focus which fills the whole page. Further description would appear alongside the model to explain more about the model/clothes.
